letter to editor

I am running for the Montana House of Representatives in District 22 to bring constitutional principles, accountability, and common-sense leadership back to state government. My campaign is focused on reducing the tax burden on working families, expanding school choice, protecting Second Amendment rights, and restoring trust in our public institutions.

I believe Montana does not have a revenue problem—it has a structure problem. Property taxes are rising faster than wages, and too many families, seniors, and veterans are being taxed out of their homes. I support a simpler, flatter income tax combined with real property tax relief, including reducing or eliminating school-related property taxes where possible. My goal is simple: let Montanans keep more of what they earn.

Education is personal to me. My wife Annie and I own and operate a family-run education center, working directly with students and families every day. I’ve written IEPs, helped struggling learners succeed, and seen firsthand where the system works—and where it fails. I support school choice, including Education Savings Accounts and tax credits, because parents—not systems—should decide what is best for their children. Funding should follow the student, and accountability should be tied to outcomes.

I am also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. As a firearms instructor and active member of Montana’s shooting community, I believe in constitutional carry, due process protections, and the right of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves and their families.

I was raised in farm country, where I learned the value of hard work early in life. I’ve worked in construction, agriculture, and healthcare as an LPN before returning to school and earning multiple degrees, including a master’s in education. I’ve taught in inner-city schools, charter schools, and on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation before settling in Great Falls with my family.

Annie and I have two adult children. We have adopted a boy and are in the process of adopting a baby girl. Our lives revolve around family, education, and the Montana outdoors. I have previously run for State Senate, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, and local school board, always advocating for school choice, fiscal responsibility, and constitutional government.

I am proud to be endorsed by the Montana Shooting Sports Association, Montana for Limited Government, Make Liberty Win, and the Montana Conservative Alliance, where I hold an “A” rating. I have also been named a “Honor” Candidate by the Montana GOP.

I’m running to put Montana families first—by defending your rights, lowering your tax burden, and making sure the government works for you.
