Game Wardens Seek Information on Moose Poached on Sun River Wildlife Management Area
Augusta, Mont. - Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks game wardens are seeking information on a bull moose that was shot on the Sun River Wildlife Management Area near Augusta.
The moose was reported shot and left to waste sometime after October 29th. After some investigation, some locals who had been hunting in the area saw the bull alive on November 8th and then he was found dead on November 11th.
“I've narrowed down when he was killed so that has certainly helped me a lot,” explained Per Wolfisberg. “I'm working on making lots of phone calls, talking to people, talking to my regional investigator, and getting advice from other FWP regional investigators. Just really trying to solve this one because it's a pretty big deal.”
Game wardens say that wildlife crimes like this one are often solved because of leads from the public and encourage anyone with information to make a report.
