Do You Have a Paid Great Falls Gazette Account and Suddenly Have No Access to Downloads or Paid Content?

Hello everyone, it's been quite eventful around here. Many big changes, and one huge one is that during a recent update, our original site was damaged. While we have attempted to restore things, it became evident that the damage was much more severe than we expected. This has meant that while we really wanted to save everything, the site itself is beyond reasonable repair.

We have returned to the Ghost platform, which was what the original Gazette was hosted on. While the WordPress system was neat and offered some cool features, it also was its undoing; a module was added which wreaked havoc on the entire system and damaged the database that ran the website. This led to a loss of data on the running site. And while we have backups, it would mean having to re-enter newer stories, as the backups do not cover them, and the database is rather unstable to retrieve them.

In the course of this action, many people may have dropped from paid to free. We can repair this and get you back up and running.

First and foremost is the digital edition. If you are not receiving your digital edition, please contact us; we'll get your mailing list info updated and make sure you get all the issues you are supposed to receive. The digital edition will once again start being emailed out to users, so if you didn't get an email, please contact us either by phone (406) 952-3021 or email at info@gfgazette.com, and we can work on getting you all fixed up.

Second, we will be seeing some changes to the way the digital subscriptions work. Because of licensing issues, we can not have certain content on the website freely available, so paywalls will return for those items. The rollout will start in a few weeks, and paid subscribers will start being able to access this additional content. Please realize that we can not violate the licenses we have on this content; it MUST be behind a paywall, or we can not offer it. In many cases we have zero say in this; it's contractual and protected by US laws.

We have some really neat things coming up; some will save you money, some will enhance our ability to get news and stories to you quickly and still allow us to have a print format for those who enjoy the experience of real print newspaper.
